By Kimberly WrightOwners Paul and Cindy Geise and Chef Ben Sims are committed to providing the best local foods. To quote from the menu, "Our produce, fish, meat, eggs and dairy come from local, sustainable and humane producers." This is confirmed by Ben's regular presence at local farmers' markets. From the outside, the restaurant is easy to miss as it is located in an aging strip mall. The seasonal menu, on the other hand, is not to be missed. At our last visit highlights of the lunch menu included orecchiete with fresh Monterey Bay sardines, spaghetti with baked TLC Ranch (Las Lomas) meatballs, Caprese salad with fresh mozzarella and heirloom tomatoes, and Windmill Farms (Moss Landing) spinach salad. Desserts are made with organic dairy products from Straus Family Creamery; dessert wines and espresso are available. The wine list is international rather than local, carefully selected by Paul and changing regularly. Location: 1711 Mission Street, Santa Cruz, in the Palm Center
